Smuggler's Inn

Walking the Jurassic coast, with its cretaceous cliffs and Jurassic and Triassic fossils is an educational, yet bracing experience. Make sure you plan around a visit to the Smuggler’s Inn, either for lunch, an overnight stay or even just a quick pitstop. Close to the quaintly named village of Osmington Mills and overlooking the Isle of Portland, the Smuggler’s Inn dates back to the 13th century and was home to an infamous local smuggler from the turn of the 19th Century - Emmanuel Charles. Charles and his amigos were in the brandy trade – unfortunately, his imports were so rank that few would dare drink them. Nothing of this calibre would ever be offered to a punter at the present day Smugglers, of course. The modern fare revolves around award winning Badger cask ales and a regionally focused menu. Guests are welcome to book a table and download copies of our fantastic menu from our website www.smugglersinnosmingtonmills.co.uk
